Never judge a book....

I got this lil old book, published back in 1971, about a year ago or so, I got it mostly cause I thought the artwork was cute. The cheapest I can find this book now is around $55, mainly i think because its long out of print. I got it and never read it, i'm just that far behind in new books i've gotten recently....should be a sin eh, lol.
Never even looked at who wrote it either until the other day when i casually flipped thru it, Kathryn Paulsen. It took a sec but I had seen that name before, been a few years. Ah, I remembered, I had another of her books, actually one of the first books or so i had gotten on the craft (we talking some '93 shit here, that's old, lol)

I purchased this book at a pagan bookstore in Savannah back when i was still in college. It kinda reminds me now of "Mastering Witchcraft" by Paul Huson, another older book thats like a power punch all in one, got a little of everything in it. Well, knowing that I still had the first Paulsen book I had bought years ago and remembering that it is a good informative read, I began with her other book that I had gotten nearly a year ago, just for looks, and discovered that its actually very very witchy indeed. Its magick is a little more on the darker side one would say, but hey, we live in light and well as darkness now don't we.

You see i had gotten the book for 60's style drawings of witches, never realizing the treasure inside, never even paid attention to who even wrote it...shame shame. I would recommend both books any day though. Well, i assume, never judge a book by its cover...BB All on this independence day of ours, this independence is what led to our freedom of religion...

Full Circle eh

Simply amazing how some things you find out are like coming full circle. For those that don't know, the images above are of the witches cottage that Gardner's old Bricket Wood coven used for many years at the Five Acres Site (the coven doesn't use the site anymore for meetings btw). Anywho, I was reading earlier this morning and found out that Gardner had actually bought the cottage from a J.S.M. Ward who owned a living history type museum and was friends with Gardner. The first pic above is Mr. Ward inside the cottage while he still owned it at his museum.

Well, the only J.S.M. Ward that I had ever heard of was a famous Freemason who wrote several excellent books on the brotherhood that I own not long after I had been initiated into Freemasonry myself 20 years ago now. So I went researching and found out that they are one and the same. I had already known that Gardner was a Freemason also so I have come full circle in a sense, Wicca and Freemasonry, Gardner and Ward...

The second pic was taken in 2006, still looks beautiful and witchy doncha think?

Dearest Jim...RIP

Forty four years ago today you passed this earth and stepped on through, to the other side..

They say heroin's a bitch, thankfully I wouldn't know, but it has robbed a many soul...

Here's to you Jim, I will drink a few cold ones today in your honor, play some Door's tunes, and ask the Lord Dionysos to bless you...

"When the music's over, turn out the lights, this is the end, my only friend the end...it hurts to set you free, but you'll never follow me, the end of laughter and soft lights, the end of nights we tried to die..."

"i'll tell you this, i'm gonna get my kicks in before the whole shit house goes up in flames"

lol, tell em jim

Ignorance is sometimes Bliss

As a southerner who is very proud of his Confederate Heritage, and with all the blame going around this pathetic country about Confederate symbols being the root cause of every fucking evil thing on earth it seems, I still somehow see a correlation between this and my beloved Wicca. You see, both are misunderstood to the masses and completely a waste of time to try and explain to the ignorant.

We, as pagans, will never be understood or accepted in this society and culture we live in, this conception of multicultural bullshit is exactly that, bullshit! Tolerance my ass, go against whoever else opinion and your the damn devil in disguise. My god its all such a great damn lie!

I, simply, just stay away. It took me many years to figure out that simple rule my lovely wife has lived by for years. It simply just isn't worth it. The world out there will fail you, fail you every time. We as witches I feel are best as in old, hidden, and left to ourselves, avoiding the ignorance of the outside world and their vanity.

On a happier note, we have been having an excellent summer! We are truly blessed by the Gods and thank them for their kindness towards us! We continue to cast our magick when needed and bless the god and goddess in the old ways. We remain happily ignorant of the outside world as much as possible and exist within ourselves and our own lives together and the family and friends around us. Life is good. We wish all a blessed summer and hope all look forward to a rewarding harvest at Lammas.

Brightest Blessings everyone!!!
